How Does Norethisterone Affect The Menstrual Cycle?
Hello Doctor! My last to last month date was 5 feb then in order to prepone my periods i took norethistrone from 14 feb to 18 feb and I had my periods on 21 feb that is 3rd day after stopping medicine. My question is will my period be delayed or preponed in coming month?
The effect of norethisterone is via withdrawal bleeding as the progesterone support of uterine epithelium is taken back as you stopped the medicine.
Once the menses is started after 3-4 days of medication stoppage, it lasts for 4-5 days and then you get your regular period at the interval of 28 days or so as per your schedule.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
