Do people know that they have heart disease? How do they find out? Should you go to a doctor regularly? Do people know that they have heart disease? How do they find out? Should you go to a doctor regularly?
you may know you have high risk if heart disease runs in your family, if close relatives had heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol.
Doctors start taking your blood pressure when you are a teenager. They measure cholesterol when you get a full check-up. And, of course, they now you have heart disease if you have a heart attack.
you can go to a doc, and tell him you want to be checked for heart and pulmonary risk factors.
and yes, they think you should have a checkup every year or 2 , even if you seem perfectly healthy.
Thanks for query,

My husband's heart is beating loudly and seems to be beating irregularly. I took his blood pressure and it was normal. His heart rate was 102bpm. He also has an urge to cough periodically. He's had these episodes happen before and the cough has helped at times. Do we need to be concerned? His father died from heart disease and started having an irregular heart beat when he was 35.
