I have High BP with BP drugs. Recently they changed from BP drugs to 2 diaretics 50mg HTC and Spirolatone. Now BP is low Dia 110-130 Sys 60-56 and a constant pulse of 56. Im very drousy / dizzy in morning. I took myself off one BP drug I took At night terazosin 5mg. It did nothing but make me impotent. Should i fire my doctors and start from scratch. Now they want me to go on a heart smart program with a nurse to monitor my heart and diabetes 2 drugs abs tests. Before i had this program it was inconsistent and go a minth waiting for lab results. I quit the program and now that I have diabetes they want me back on program. What do you advise?

I am 70 years of age, and I have been diagnosed with malignant neurocardiogenic syndrome, I have obviously suffered with this most of my life as I can recall fainting spells since about 14 years of age but had never been diagnosed before, this time I was diagnosed after fainting during a tilt test and I was prescribed atenolol. I did take this for a while but found it slowed me down and when I didn t take it I experienced episodes of an sudden unstable high pulse rate. I realized that this was probably a reaction to the stopping taking the atenolol but I have continued to not take the betablocker and the sudden attacks of high pulse rate, etc., have now stopped. I haven t had a fainting episode for some time. I know I have to be careful first thing in the morning and I cannot stand still for too long, I avoid drinking alchohol and I know there are various other things which can trigger an attack which I try to avoid. When I was diagnosed I was also found to have high blood pressure at times which I was told made it more difficult to treat I know my blood pressure can suddenly go up at times, but I have bought a home monitor and I have been keeping a record and I now find that my blood pressure is fairly normal most of the time and often quite low first thing in the morning. I have also been told that I have high cholesterol. As I know there is not a cure for vasovagal syndrome and I feel that taking the beta-blockers was only masking the problem and did have some side effects I think I am better to just keep an eye on my blood pressure, take regular exercise and I have changed my diet to include garlic, herbs peppers and other foods which might help my condition. One thing that puzzles me rather is that my pulse rate is usually higher ( although not too high about 75-80 ) when I wake first thing in the morning and then drops down to about 60 when I am up and about.

If a 40 year old male has a high blood pressure, what medication is started initially to lower the bp? Diastolic consistently in 90 s. Previous cardiac stress test normal. Hx of father s death by sudden heart attack at age 50. Primary care physician recommended hydrochlorothiazide 12.5. Would this be the best choice? hgt 5.4, weight 135, tried diet control by limiting salt intake, vegetarian and does walking exercises 3x/week. Thank you.

A relative is type one diabetic. He had a mild heart attack 3 weeks ago followed by a massive heart attack 2 days later. The attack has left him with only 20% heart function. His legs are extremely swolen with fluid and because of this, cannot have surgery. He cannot lay down as fluid gets into his lungs. He has been re-admitted to hospital but doctors have not told us very much. He is 58 years old, not overweight and normally very active. He does not smoke and drinks only socially. Help?

Hi sir,
my elder brother was suffering with frequent coughing since last 3 months. In chest x ray, Koch's lesion left upper mid zones was found. after that we consulted with the chest physician, he adviced forcreatinine, fasting blood sugar test, sputum test. His blood sugar was 361 mg/dl that is really surprising for us. because in our family nobody is diabetic. Even we never identified he may be diabetic. in case of sputum test, A.F.B. (++)was detected. now its clear to us that he having infection of tuberculosis. but still we are confused about the diabetes. due to diabetes he is having tuberculosis or after infection he became diabetic. his weight is approx. 64
kg. please let me know what is the right treatment for better cure of both diabetes and tuberculosis.
