How Could Nurofen Effect If One Is A Smoker?

I just bought some Nurofen Day & Night Cold & Flu tablets. I read on the package that I should check with a pharmacist/doctor before taking some for my cold if I am a smoker. I currently smoke (I know, i shouldn t) and was wondering how bad it would be for me to take nurfen. Thanks for your help!

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Ibuprofen is the active ingredient in Nurofen.
It is used for relieving primarily pain and other inflammatory processes.
Smoking while taking such anti-inflammatory analgesic medications could result in aggravation of side effects like elevation in blood pressure and increased gastric mucosal irritation leading to formation of gastric ulcers.
Hence, it would be best advised to avoid smoking while on such medications.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
