Hi, thanks for your question.
The best form of management for
bronchial asthma is avoiding the triggers. As you may have been told, bronchial asthma is a chronic airway condition involving constriction of the airway on exposure to certain triggers.
Shortness of breath and cough are common symptoms.
First, ensure your wife avoids the possible triggers of an asthma attack such as cold air, cold drinks, dust, substances with strong smells such as insectide sprays, cotton material, certain foods such as seafoods and peanuts if she's allergic to them, and exercise. Then, to treat these acute symptoms, get her a
salbutamol inhaler which contains dpa drug which expands the airway and reduces the symptoms. You can also get her over-the-counter antihistamines such as
benadryl.
Prednisolone tablets should also be gotten to reduce the infallmation in the airway. Thereafter, revisit your doctor.
However, if the shortness of breath is so severe that she cannot make a complete sentence or her lips are turning blue, take her to the nearest emergency unit as fast as you can as her blood oxygen content is getting dangerously low.
I hope I have answered your question.
Best wishes.
