I started having chest cold symptoms on Friday night and started using over the counter mucinix Saturday. By Monday I had no voice, was coughing and having trouble breathing. I went to the urgent care Tuesday morning because I couldn t catch my breath. The urgent care sent me to the emergency room because they discovered through a chest/throat xray that I had tracheitis. Once at the ER a cat scan with Iodine was done but no tumors or pockets of puss were found around the trachea. I was put on an IV of steroids and that night sent home with 2 weeks worth or antibiotics and a week worth of steroids. Tuesday night I was coughing up phlegm with blood in it. No blood since then. It is now Friday and I am still having breathing attacks where I can t catch my breath and coughing/wheezing. When should I see the symptoms improve or should I go back to the DR?

I am a 53 yr old female. A week ago, Thursday, I had a head cold with fever and sore throat. 2 days later, the fever and sore throat were gone. I am weezing, having trouble breathing, have no energy, can t sleep at night due to unproductive cough. Although it is a wet cough and can feel the congestion in my chest, nothing will come up. Went to walk in two days ago. They gave me amoxicillin, pregnazone, an inhaler and cough medicine with codeine but I am still weezing terribly and up all night coughing.
