How Can Water Retention In The Body Be Treated?

I have been retaining water for over a week now. About 4 pounds. I ve been drinking a lot of water and I urinate often. So I know that s not the problem. I m not eating salty foods. I don t know what else this could be. It happens for about 2 weeks every month. Different times. It s not associated with my menstrual cycle. It s very uncomfortable and my salivary glands also get swollen and my face looks round for 2 weeks. My feet, legs, hands swell too.

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your water retention.

As per your history it seems to me that you have a good medical knowledge but I will present you some terms if you are accompanied by it it can be water retention ; puffiness of face, swollen legs, fluid in abdomen (accitis) etc.

If you have all or one of the above symptoms that means you are having fluid retention.

There are some causes of water retention like chronic kidney disease (nephrotic syndrome, chronic lever disease, severe Anemia and severe allergic reaction.

You need to visit a general physician for proper evaluation. Get your 24 hour protein content of urine checked.

Hope my answer will help you and write us back in case you feel any further assistance needed.

Regards
