How Can Viral Infection And Wheezing Be Treated?

Son is nearly 4 has been under the weather for 2 days, lethargic, not really eating, a bit conjested with conjunctivitis. Temperature is fine. Pulse on left side of neck is noticeably pulsating. He was admitted to hospital about 6-9 month ago with a viral induced wheeze where he was on nebuliser and given blue and brown inhaler to use. Spent 1 night in hospital. Should I be concerned or taking him to go?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, he may need to be worked up for acute upper respiratory tract infection which can be either bacterial or viral. Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like Acetaminophen and antihistamines like Cetirizine can be started. Decongestants can be used and steam inhalations may also help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
