Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was on antibiotics for about 3 months,( oral and IV) I m off them now but of course I had a yeast infection pretty much the whole time I was on them, I ve been off them for about a month now but noticed I was getting another yeast infection with itching, heavy discharge with an odor, and some bumps is this normal after being on strong antibiotics?
I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your post antibiotics opertunistic infection.
Yes it is common when you are on antibiotics your normal oral and vaginal flora which regulate the harmful pathogens gets disturbed and some pathogens like yeast start to grow without control and causes what is called opportunistic infection.
You need to take a course of antifungal medication like ketokenezole for a week or two in consultation with your doctor to get rid of it.
Hope my answer will help you and revert back to us incase you feel any further assistance required.
Regards Dr Muzaffer Hussain Parray.
