Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I've had tooth ache on and off now for a year now and usually it keeps me awake at night sitting up usually takes the pain away ita usually on the right hand side and all my upper teeth and lower teeth anyway I hadnt had toothache for while until late last night I took paracetamol and ibuprofen and managed to get too sleep till 1am then I repeaTed the medication again this morning I've woken up with my molar hurting when it's pressed on or when I swallow I feels like it has a lot of pressure I also have a large long lump on the roof of my gums when I press on that it causes the molar to hurt
As per your explanation of the symptoms it is clearly pointing towards Dental abscess as pain and pressure over the tooth with a long lump over the gums are commonly seen due to tooth abscess..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and an IOPAR (x ray) of tooth can help in diagnosis..
Taking g painkillers will provide only temporary relief from pain and it is not the solution for the problem..
In case if the tooth is in a condition that it can be saved then Root Canal Treatment can help in relieving the symptoms permanently followed by antibiotics and painkillers.. In case if the tooth decay has reached deep on roots then extraction of tooth has to be done..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
