How Can Tooth Infection Be Treated?

My baby girl is 11 months old. She has two teeth on the bottom. She has a tooth coming through from the top now but it is looking like there is greeny coloured pus around it. What could this be from? Could she have cut the gum and got an infection? Do I take her to the dentist? Thanks

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

If the tooth has not broken through the gum and you can see a greenish lump then it can be most probably an Eruption cyst and it is present only till the tooth is under the gum and as the tooth breaks through the gum then the cyst subsides..

But in case if tooth has started erupting and has come out of the gum then the green pus can be due to infection of the gum around erupting tooth..

So in case if it is an eruption cyst then you need not to do anything and it will resolve on its own but if it is due to infection then it should be treated with antibiotics and cleaning the gum with hand scalers..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
