How Can Throat Infection Be Treated?

I had an enterobacteer throat infection after being intubated for surgery in a hospital. My throat was very painful and I was treated with Bactrim. My throat is not as painful now. I want to know if I should have been given a follow-up c&s to make certain that I am not still infected.

Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this-

Do a clinical examination by your ENT doctor and do CBC with differential to confirm whether you have infection present or not.

To prevent throat infection do like this-

1)Try to wash your hands thoroughly and frequently, especially after using the toilet, before eating, and after sneezing or coughing.

2)Try to avoid sharing food, drinking glasses or utensils. Cough or sneeze into a tissue and throw it away. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers as an alternative to hand-washing when soap and water aren't available.

3)Try to avoid close contact with people who are sick.

4)Try to stay indoors as much as possible on high-pollution days.
Wear a filtering mask when cleaning to avoid inhaling dust or airborne particles from cleaning products.

5)Try to avoid smoking and try to avoid exposure to secondhand smoke.

6)Try to humidify your bedroom if the air is dry.

Hope that helps
