How Can Swelling On The Right Cheek Be Treated?

I ran into an iron pole, very had hit to my forehead just to the left of the center. Bled very little, just one little spot breaking the skin. I iced it immediately and kept ice on it for hours. Did not go to have it looked at as we were at race. I took a norco for the bad headache, and stayed at the trailer all day. A bit sick at stomache which can happen with such an accident. No loss of memory, eyes focus fine, swelled huge. Of course the forehead was bruised badly over my eyes, and continued to move down daily to eyes, under eyes and the right cheek. This has been over 3 weeks. Now the right cheek is swollen in the puffy tissue, seams to be a lupe in the swelling, has extended down now below the jaw. Can all of this be connected to the original accident?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Swelling of the cheek and eye is due to the inflammatory process after traumatic injury to the soft tissues.

The lump is due to hematoma formation that occurs due to accumulation of blood into the soft tissues causing a harmless lump formation..

As it is already 3 weeks and the swelling is continue to rise, therefore you need to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and a clinical examination should be done..

An x ray or MRI Scan should also be done to rule out the exact nature of the swelling..

As of now you can continue to do cool compresses over the swelling..
If there is pain you can take painkillers but avoid Aspirin..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
