How can swelling on the finger be treated?

Hi, my friend recently just stepped on my bare finger with her shoes on. At first I thought that if I just iced it then it would feel better. But after two nights of rest it still is swollen and I can t bend it forward of backward. Should I get it splinted or just tough it out.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Start taking over-the-counter pain killer like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac Sodium which helps and try out ice application. X-ray should be done, if still no result.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
