How can swelling in the lower gums be treated?

Thank you. I had dental implant surgery last week for entire mouth. My bottom gums are very swollen and still with stitches until next week. Is there a natural herb or supplement I can take to help the swelling to go down and help me heal at a faster rate??

Hello,

As per your query, you have symptoms of swelling in the lower gums which is very common after dental procedure or surgery, and it is mainly due to inflammation of soft tissue. It will get subsided in 7 to 10 days.

Besides that, I would suggest you to:
- Do warm saline rinses 3 to 4 times a day, they are very effective in reducing the swelling.
- Do beta-dine rinses twice a day.
- Take Ibuprofen drug (if not allergic) or paracetamol for pain and swelling.

If the condition does not resolve in 5 to 7 days, then consult an oral surgeon. The doctor may give you stronger antibiotic, drain the pus by giving incision.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
