How Can Swelling In The Feet Due To Prednisone Intake Be Treated?
I started taken Ventolin inhaler as needed for a bronchial infection. Along with this the dr prescribed 2 x 20 Mg per tablet to be taken once a day. I started this program on Sat December 30 th and then again on Su day, December 31st. I am breathing well and there is no sign of wraspiness in my breathing. However, I am having a reaction to the prednisone, major swelling of my hands and feet, itchy eyes and insomnia. Must I continue for another three days with this drug as prescribed or can I discontinue? If I discontinue using this steroid what are the side effects? I am eighty year old women with high blood pressure and two heart stents as well as have had two lobes of my right lung removed due to cancer.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
If the symptoms ,you think are because of the drug ,you can stop it abruptly ,(steroid can be stopped abruptly if taken less then 15 days).
No need to continue, however make sure that if symptoms does not improve with stopping the drug, you urgently see your doctor as this may not be side effects of the drugs.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
