How Can Swelling In The Ear Due To Perichondritis Be Treated?

I have been seen by an ENT dctor last Monday. She diagnosed me with perichondritis and aspirated 1cc fluid from my ear and fave me Ofloxacin 200mg 2x/day. Swelling came back 3days ago so aspiration of 3 cc fluid was done again yesterday. Ofloxacin was increased to 400mg 2x a day. Still a little swelling again today. Do I need surgery?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you can better wait till finishing the treatment before considering surgery. You should finish the total antibiotics course, drainage and corticosteroid treatment. Surgery may be considered as the last option.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
