How Can Swelling In The Arm Be Treated?

Hello, so yesterday I was out on the lake tubing, and I was Ima double one with a cousin, well when we hit a big wave he elbow slammed down on my flexor digitorum superficialis, when it happened it hurt really bad, but I tried to just whatever it, until we got back on the boat and my arm in that area had got swollen and it was obviously bruised, it has now been roughly 24 hours later and it’s still swollen, I’ve tried to put an ice pack on it and then tried icy hot, so I don’t know if I should just wait it out, or maybe wrap it a up a little bit, and I’m only 16 so I’m still going to school and so should I try and take it easy on my arm?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You mentioned your having swelling at supine surface of palm. It may be due to hematoma formation or tendinitis or muscle strain etc. It may take 5-7 days to recover. Use cold compression and heat therapy. Use pain killer medication, if symptoms not improved please consult your orthopedics he will examine and take X-ray of your palm and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
