How Can Swelling And Inflammation In The Toes Be Treated?
My mother is 79 and scraped her left foot. He swelled up and then went down with ice. A few days later she scraped the same foot with a metal door but did not break the skin. Afterward there were two bulges in the area and she iced it again. It looked like two eggs on the top of her foot. She has been to several doctors in Lakeland Florida and they cannot confirm the diagnosis. They first diagnosed gout and put her on steroids. Then another doctor took her off the steroids and put her on antibiotic. The doctors are saying they do not know what is happening. The toes were turning black and her foot is swollen and red and extremely painful. The doctors are hesitant to puncture the area. If it does not get better she may be hospitalized.

After scrappingvofvfoot developed lesions may be due to infection or cellulitis or actinomyces infection or involving underlying bone lead to osteomyelitis etc..
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.
Please consult your orthopedician/surgeon they will examine and treat you accordingly.
