How Can Sudden Hearing Loss And Tinnitus Be Treated?

2 weeks ago, I got sudden hearing loss. My left ear is completely deaf. I thought that being deaf would be peaceful and quiet, however, it is so noisy, I hear very, extremely loud, ringing buzzing and I even hear banging. And its driving me crazy. I had an audio gram and then saw an ENT. My primary also put me on predisone. Which I only have 2 more days of it didn t help at all. Things have only seemed to be getting worse. I asked the ENT if I could have a MRI to see if there is a blood clot blocking the cochlea. He said no, because blood cries would be too small to see. I told him I ve been doing a lot of reading and saw that other doctors do them, and he told me I must be reading the wrong stuff he was rude to me and asked me what did I expect him to tell me? He said all I can do is wait and see, but there s no cure and I ll probably have to live with this noise. The rest of my life. I am thinking. Then everything connected to my ear like I ve been on oxycontin, a couple years for a needy I also have broken, and since I lost my hearing, my 2 lower molars broke off and I have no teeth they are now in this last week and everything is happening at once and I feel like everything is connected somehow. I really do think I need an MRI, but I don t have an order to get one. I want to go to the emergency room and ask them to give me one, but I don t know if they will either. This noise is driving me crazy. I usually am up all night and by maybe 5 am I can sleep 2 or 3 hours. I just feel like I can t keep living this way. It s crazy. I don t think I have very good doctors they don t seem to be helping or even trying to help, really. What do you suggest I do? I also heard that a chiropractor cannot just a skull and manipulate it. So I thought I d go talk to them too. I just have to find a cure this I don t know how to get used to this deafness or the noise. What should I do?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sudden hearing loss and tinnitus which could be due to autoimmune inner ear disease , very loud noise , meniere's disease, acoustic neuroma , physical head injury. Meditation and light physical exercise will be helpful. Chances of hearing back from ear after sensorineural hearing loss are very less. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination. You should get it examined immediately to prevent further exaggeration of symptoms. Doctor may order CT scan , blood test , examination with otoscope . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin or penicillin, anti inflammatory medications. Doctor can recommend you surgery. Supplement like ginkgo biloba can be very helpful. You should use hearing aid as that is the best treatment possible.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
