How Can Stiffness And Cramps In The Hands And Knuckles Be Treated?

Hi, my name is Pete and I just turned 60 at the end of March. At this very same time, I began feeling stiffness and cramping in both of my hands between the knuckles. At night it feels like my fingers are locking up in a closed position. My doctor told me to drink some Gatorade or maybe even trying a magnesium supplement. I am on medication for diabetes. The Gatorade is not working and my left hand is worse than the right, especially my ring finger on the left hand. I would appreciate your input. Thank you!

Hi,

It can be an early sign of arthritis or might be simple pain due to contusions.

Anyway, you can take analgesics like Acetaminophen or Tramadol for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
