How can soreness in the thighs after receiving an IM injection be managed?

My thigh muscle is sore after an IM injection. It feels like the muscle is really hard. Like a tight muscle or knot it s also warm to the touch. I ve had this issue before when I was injection closer to my knee. Once I learned where I was supposed to inject it further up my leg that pain stopped. But now it s back again only not nearly as bad.

Hi,

Soreness and pain is quite common after any injection. Generally, it will settle by it own even without any treatment.

You can take analgesics like Acetaminophen or Tramadol for pain relief. You can also apply warm compresses.

Nothing much to worry and it will settle in couple of days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

2 weeks ago I was sitting at my desk and noticed a little soreness on my inner thigh when I turned in my chair. I touched it to see if it was a bruise and felt a knot/lump. I went to the restroom to see what it was and noticed a little bruising. None of this had been there two hours earlier. Within three hours of noticing the knot and bruise they both had trippled in size. I chose to go to the ER and was told it was a busted blood vessel. After two weeks the brusing is starting to clear a little but the knot is still the same size. About the size of large gumball and still sore. The bruising area is larger than my hand but knot sore. I am a 32 year old female with no health problems and there was no kind of accident to cause this. Is it normal and how long should it take to completely heal (knot and bruise)?

Hello, I received a hit to the thigh during a rugby game. There has been no discoloration after 24 hours but it is very sore and painful upon movement (going down stairs hurts the most). It doesn t seem like there is much, if any, swelling. It hurts to flex the knee while standing and the pain is mostly on my mid/upper quadricep. What is the best approach to treatment and how long will the pain and soreness last for? Thank you!

I have a continuing and chronic pain in my upper thigh. The pain extends down my leg. Putting weight on it is very pain as is walking after sitting. I walk with a limp to offset the pain. I have had my hip xrayed. Nothing. I have had physical therapy for 6 weeks. Pain persists. I have seen an orthopedic doctor and have had pain injections at a pain management center. The pain still persists. What should I do at this point?
