How Can Sore Throat And Earache Be Treated?

What are holistic ways to get rid of a sore throat and earaches? I have never had an earache until now. I did go to the doctor today, and she prescribed an antibiotic. Due to the extensive list of side effects, I do not want to take it. My concern is also that my hearing seems to be muffled. I am really saturating my body with orange juice, and today I started using a heating pad. Please advise.

Hello,

You have symptoms of earache and sore throat which seems to be probably due to viral infection and due to eustachian tube dysfunction. Need not to worry. I would suggest you do warm saline gargles and take steam inhalation. You should consult ENT specialist for proper examination as the infection has already spread to ear and in the respiratory tract.

The doctor may order a complete blood profile and examine the ear with an otoscope. The doctor may prescribe antiviral drugs (acyclovir) for a week along with decongestants and anti-inflammatory medications. Take proper rest and keep yourself hydrated. You should apply dry hot compresses to ear.
