How can soft tissue damage in the ankle be treated?

I hit my ankle extremely hard while trying to prevent myself from falling. My ankle was injured, the podiatrist after exrays said that it was soft tissue damage. But the pain has been continuous for over a year. I ve been to physical therapy but the relief has only been short term. What can I do to heal the damage to my ankle.

Hello,

If healing is restricted, then we usually think of etiology. If it is infective, we treat with antibiotics if its due diabetes it should be treated.

Healing can be hampered in diabetes. If it is due immune inactivity, we need to find out the cause of delayed healing and should treat accordingly.

So, get a biopsy done and find out etiology and it can be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
