How Can Sinusitis Be Treated?

I have had a sinus infection for several weeks. I have been to the doctor twice. It seems to be getting worse. It feels like it is much deeper now. I have had a headache (migraine), between my eyes is swollen and hurting, my eyes are matting up and one is real red, and my nose is swollen (especially upper part).

Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

It seems that you are having very much trouble with sinusitis. You don't need to worry as it can be managed effectively with timely treatment.
Your angle of your eyes got swollen may be because of mucus collection. It will revert to normal once the infection is cleared.
I suggest you to consult a general practitioner and get the following things done:-
(1)- Get CT scan done to know the extend of the disease.
(2)- As a first line management, start a short course of antibiotics for five to seven days. Levofloxacin is my personal choice.
(3)- You can use simple analgesics like ibuprofen or aceclofenac for pain.
(4)- Use nasal decongestants like xylometazoline for blocked nostrils.
(5)- Do antihistamines like levocetrezine for symptomatic relief.
(6)- Do steam inhalation frequently, Which would open up blocked sinuses.
If medical management fails,we have to go for surgical intervention. Nowadays, endoscopic method is preferred which is highly effective and complications are very less.

Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
