How Can Sinusitis And Swollen Lymph Nodes On The Neck Be Treated?

Hi. I have had a sinus infection for several months. Today, I finished a course of Bactrim, which is the 4th antibiotic my ENT has prescribed. Yesterday, the lymph nodes in my neck/around my jaw started being very tender and a little swollen; today they swelled up even more. I double-checked Bactrim side effects, and it's listed as a rare one. Would it make sense for the side effect to show up on the last day and a half of a ten-day course? Will this resolve on its own?

Hi.
Thanks for the query..

The swollen lymph nodes is due to Infection only and if the Infection is getting better then the swelling of lymph nodes will also gradually subside..

So my suggestion is to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated..

If the Infection is still present then you can be advised another 5 days course of antibiotics along with anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen or Naproxen and along with it do cool compresses over the lymph nodes..

Do not worry the swelling of lymph nodes will subside soon..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
