How Can Sinusitis And Pain Around The Mouth Be Treated?

Hi, I've had really stuffy sinuses for about 6 weeks, and it's been accompanied by facial numbness, pain around mouth, and tension headaches (they're not too bad though). I was told I had nasal polyps about 9 years ago - is this likely just a polyp flare up?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Stuffy sinuses and pain around mouth along with numbness seems to be most probably due to sinus infection causing Sinusitis and is not probably due to polyps..

So it is advisable to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated so that a clinical examination and investigation like PNS View x ray can be done so that the exact cause can be ruled out..

In case of sinus infection you can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin along with anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen..
Decongestant nasal sprays like Xylometazoline and saline nasal irrigation can be advised..
Steam inhalation can help in improvement along with using a cool mist humidifier in your room..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
