Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband just found out a rash he had is the shingles. I have a 6 yr. Old and a new 4 month old granddaughters. Neather one have had the chicken pox... Are caught up on their shots. What should I be concearned with, they are so young? I do t nothing about this shingles.
The chicken poxvaccine is part of the vaccine schedule so the 6 year old should have it if she or he has all of the vaccines to date. The 4 month old would not have received this as yet.
It is spread by contact with the lesions so if they are covered and any surfaces that may have been in contact with the lesions cleaned , then the children should be okay.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
