How Can Severe Pain In The Legs Be Treated?

My husband is in the hospital suffering from an extreme adverse reaction to avorstatin. He also has leukocytosis. The physicians have explored every inch of his body seeking a source of infection without success. He is unable to walk due to severe pain in his legs. Two weeks ago he was perfectly normal. Now we fear we will lose him. He does not have high cholesterol levels and had a reaction to the medication three years ago. This time he was given a lower dosage. He took the medication for six weeks this time and discontinued it two weeks ago. Any suggestions?
