How Can Severe Pain In The Forearm Be Treated?

i broke my both bones in my forearm in a car accident ten years ago and had plates and screws put in and they have never been removed. A month ago I tried opening a jar lid and had severe soreness for two weeks but the last two weeks have been fine. I woke up this morning with severe pain again and have barely been able to use my arm all day. what did i do to it and how can i relieve the pain?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanksfor the query.understand your concern.
Your history suggests screw &plate might have been displaced (due to osteoporosis/bone rarifaction after over use of the plate&screws )to cause bone injury...
Need an imaging investigation &consultation of orthopedic surgeon for perfect diagnosis&specific treatment.
Till you get an appointment.. give rest to part (not moving/use of a slint).Over the counter NSAID pill like Ibuprofen would give relief from pain.
Thanks.
