How Can Severe Pain In The Feet Be Treated?

Hello. I am suffering from a pain in my foot. Started two days ago at the arch while standing for long period of time. , has moved to Achilles and outer right ankle. Cannot put any weight on it without excruciating pain shooting up my leg. Thought gout, but not swollen, at least not much. Also, don t fall into any risk factors diet wise. History of injury on the ankle, but no current memorable strain. White dots, like fatty deposits can be seen through the skin on the soles of my feet.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there I have read through your question and understand your concern. Sudden pain in the foot can occur due to a number of reasons most commonly being Acute attack of gout. It can be diagnosed with the help of a blood uric acid test. If confirmed you may have to take uricosuric agent s like Allopurinol till your blood uric acid levels return to normal. But uricosuric agent s won't be affective in an acute attack of gout. You may have to take colchicine for that. Another cause can be injury. You have mentioned a history of injury so that has to be ruled out too. A physical examination by a a physician can help to reach the diagnoses. For time being you can take an over the counter painkiller like naproxen to relieve the pain. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
