How Can Severe Pain Due To Fibromyalgia Be Treated?

I have bipolar. Adhd and fibromialgia. I have been on Effexor for 14 years between 300 and 450 mg for chronic depression. Since my bipolarand adhd diagnosis i have been on vyvanse 20 mg and epival 750mg. I have been weening off my Effexor to see if i actually need an antidepressant or if a mood stabilizer is sufficient. I did still get quite depressed on Epival and effexor together and my Dr thought a change in antidepressants might help. He has recommended Trintellix. However , my fibro pain is excruciating since coming off all antidepressants. My mood is good. Should i try a new ( hopefully better ) antidepressant that will also help with my pain. Or should i go on Trintellix and go on a completely new drug for fibro pain ? Please help.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes antidepressants also help to elevate the pain.

You can try new drug if there's no improvement with old drug.

Please follow your doctor orders while following. If you're observing any side effects please consult your doctor immediately he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
