How Can Severe Pain And Swelling In The Little Finger Be Treated?

I fell on a trail run and dislocated my pinky finger. It was pretty bad but I slid the dislocation back into place and it seemed ok. However it swelled up pretty good and has been fairly immobile for 2 months, looks swollen and slightly bent. I went to get xrays and clinic Doc said the bone was fractured but all the bones are aligned properly and it s healing. I was good with that but 2 weeks on and it s just not right, hurts and still WAY bigger than it s counterpart. What to do?

Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

If there is no improvement with the swelling at all then repeat imaging may be needed. You would need to keep the hand elevated whenever possible to help reduce the swelling and it may need a compression bandage as well. Anti-inflammatory pain medications would help with both the swelling and pain; eg. Ibuprofen, Celebrex, Naproxen, Voltaren. I hope this helps.

Hope this clarifies your concerns. Thank you for the query.

Take care

Regards,
