How can severe earache after removal of tonsils be treated?

I had my tonsils out at the age of 30. I get a really bad earache only in my left ear and was told by 2 ENT Doctors that I have a damaged nerve and there is nothing that can be done .I just take Aleeve or Advil every 4 hrs to help with the pain.Is there anything else I can do to help with the pain?

During tonsillectomy, there is a chance to glossopharyngeal nerve injury lead to altered taste sensation of tongue. But it won't cause ear pain unless facial nerve injured.

Ear pain may be due to Infection or Eustachian tube block et cetera. Avoid cool drinks and freeze water, use water vapour inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days.

If still symptoms not improved, then please consult your ENT specialist so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
