Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

I have gone through your questions and understand your concerns. As per the history you provided, it looks like you're suffering with depression. The precipitating factor for the depressive episode might be your husband's issue. If I would be your treating psychiatrist, I would recommend you to start antidepressants immediately. My choice would have been an SSRI. But, as you have expressed concerns regarding weight gain with SSRIs, I would recommend you with NDRIs like tablet Bupropion start with 150 mg once a day. Bupropion works well for depressive features without causing any weight gain. Coming to non-pharmacological management, I would advise cognitive behavioral therapy as an add on Bupropion treatment. I would also recommend you to practice stress management techniques like relaxation exercises, mindfulness, regular physical activity with good dietary habits.

Hope this clarifies your concerns. Thank you for the query.

Take care

Psychiatrist Dr. Gayathri's  Response
Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

In my opinion, it is necessary to go for a complete blood check-up. Thyroid profile, hemoglobin and lipid drugs like Fluoxetine would be beneficial as it would not promote weight gain.

Hope this clarifies your concerns. Thank you for the query.

Take care
