How Can Severe Cough And Cold Be Treated?

I had a severe cold/cough, sore throat with fever up to 102 over 4 days, chest cough persists, now I have diarrhea. I take daily synthroid early morning and calcium 4 hours later, Hydrchlorothiazide per day. The cough syrup I took today was 12 hour Delsym. Drinking water, coconut water, jello and tea with honey. How many days should I give this virus before seeing a Doctor?

Hello,

You have symptoms of severe cough and cold which could be due to streptococcal infection leading to strep throat and due to poor immunity. Need not to worry. I would suggest you take a combination of antibiotics, along with antihistamine medications. Keep sipping warm water as well. You should take steam inhalation. Nasal decongestants along with cough syrup will relieve symptoms. Visit ENT specialist once if symptoms keep on persisting and get it examined. Start treatment once a proper diagnosis is confirmed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
