I was looking to order Ativan . I am on thyroid medicine, but I have tried Ativan, and it works for me more than anything else I ve tried. I am 53 and going through a lot of anxiety after losing my mother and raising a 15 year old. Now my 24 year old is back and my husband lost his company.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello,

It is not bad to go with Ativan, but as it is short-acting, you have to take multiple doses. So, instead of that, you can prefer long-acting clonazepam with once a day dosing.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Psychiatrist Dr. Bhagawan Rajana's  Response
Hello,

You are suffering from a generalized anxiety disorder. In my opinion, you ought to get treated immediately to control the above symptoms. Treatment includes a combination of an antidepressant and benzodiazepine (like clonazepam or lorazepam or etizolam or alprazolam (Ativan)). SSRIs control the anxiety disorder and benzodiazepine control present attack.

In the long run, when SSRI start it's action slowly, your anxiety gets controlled mostly not requiring benzodiazepines. Regarding benzodiazepines, they are very addictive if used for more than one month. So, I strongly advise you to stop Ativan completely and consult a psychiatrist as quickly as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagawan Rajana
