How Can Severe Acid Reflux Be Treated?

Hi! I have what I consider extreme reflux. I ve cut back on how much I eat & what I eat but still get reflux 3-4 times a week. Some days it lasts all day. I take an OTC acid reducer and eat Tums like candy. This helps until I drink the slightest bit of water. My symptoms do improve when I lie down which is unusual.

Hello,

Acid reflux may increase after lying down. It is due to the lax lower end of the esophagus, or hiatal hernia leads to acid reflux. Avoid spicy food and alcohol. Avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. Eat a small number of meals with increased frequency. Head end elevation during sleep. Use tablet Nexium before breakfast for one week. If symptoms not improved, please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
