Hi I've suffered with spots on my face since I was a teenager once I got into my 20s it start to die down and not bother me anymore. In the last year I have had what I feel is quite blemishy skin which has really affected my confidence and especially my mood I hate it I feel conscious even though others say they can't see it I know they're there.I'm 33 years old and had enough now.I'm currently using nizorel cream and hydrocortisone cream for what I've need told is seborrheic dermatitis.any advice would be most helpful.
Hi, I have gone through your query and I can understand your concern.
Seborrheic dermatitis is a kind of fungal infection. Its a chronic skin condition and require a long term treatment under the guidance of a dermatologist.
If you have seborrhea of scalp use anti fungal shampoos containing ketoconazole preferably thrice a week.As your history, you are having seborrheic dermatitis over face, according to my opinion it is very well treated by a combination of steroid and an antifungal cream.A combination of clotrimazole and betamethasone sold under the name candid -B would be helpful. In severe cases you might require oral anti fungals . Drink plenty of water and eat more vegetables and fruits. The antioxidants in them improve the health of your skin.Avoid oily food. I would suggest you to consult a dermatologist because long term treatment may be required and wrong treatment may worsen the disease. Do not lose hope and be confident.
Wishing you good health. With regards
Dr Shsinas Hussain
