Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the past week I have been experiencing Sciatic nerve pain in my left hip. I have tried muscle rubs like Austrialian cream and Zims Freeze Max. Also I have used a heating pad and night....nothing helps....How can I relieve this pain....it is very painful! Thank you, Carolyn Patton
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Most common cause for sciatica is nerve compression at lumber spine level. So we should first try following non surgical measures to reduce compression. 1. Weight reduction 2. Avoid forward bending and sudden jerky movements of back. 3. Start vigorous physiotherapy including wax applications, ice pack application, ultrasound treatment etc. 4. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise. 5. Sit with proper back support. Do all these and see for improvement. If not improving then consult orthopedic doctor for surgical treatment of compression. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
