General Surgeon 's  Response
The fact that you are having Sciatica, and in much discomfort that you have to take medication for relief, shows that there is nerve and cord compression at the lumbar vertebral area. Please get an MRI or CT scan done, and consult an Neurosurgeon or Orthopedic surgeon. Doctor may suggest minimal access surgery to remove the involved intervertibral disc. You would then not require any pain killers and have a better quality of life.
