How Can Scabies Be Treated?

Do steroids mask scabies? I went in two days ago for itchy red bumps all over my body (except head and neck) that developed over the weekend and was given steroids. It s helping the bumps look better but I m still itchy and wondering if it is actually scabies and will come back once I stop taking the steroids.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain red itchy bumps on your body that can be due to causes like:
-Any bug or insect bite that was toxic enough to cause generalized allergic reaction..
-It can also be due to Mite infestation causing Scabies..

In case if it is Scabies then taking Steroids can simply reduce itching but for treatment of the infection or mite infestation you need to apply Premethrin lotion or ointment over the red spots and take oral dosage of Ivermectin..

You can however take antihistamines like Levocetrizie to control itching..

So first of all get evaluated that is it Scabies or simply an Allergic reaction and get prescribed accordingly..
