Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi after I received a laser (Holep) ablation of my large prostate, I began having retrograde ejaculation. Not only is there no ejaculate (which is fine since we have enough children already) but the sensation of orgasm is mostly gone (just a strange warm but not painful sensation). Are there any remedies for this situation?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
All the above mentioned medicines are known to cause retrograde ejaculation and hence inability to ejaculate. Retrograde ejaculation means ejaculation into the urinary bladder. This is provided that there is normal erection and there is normal feeling of ejaculation but the actual ejaculate is not coming out of urethra. Please clarify on these points too.
I would advise the following in such a condition.
- Ultrasonography for genito-urinary system, prostate in particular.
- Blood: routine and PSA (Prostate specific antigen)
- Per-rectal examination for the prostate.
- An opinion of an Urologist and further investigations and treatment as per the cause found.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
