How Can Restless Leg Syndrome Be Treated?

I have reatless leg syndrom and my Doctor put me on mirapex 0.125mg. At one tablet at bedtime for 4 nights then 2 tables at bedtime. It seems to be slow to work, and I'm not sleeping much. My legs are still not relaxing good enough and I'm not happy with this medication. What do you think?

Hi,

Restless leg syndrome cause significant distress. Pramipaxole can help to improve the symptoms but sometimes doesn't result improve the sleep. If on 0.125 and 0.25 you are not able to sleep properly then you can talk with your doctor and ask about increase in doses of the drug. Doses of 0.375 mg should control the symptoms. If that doesn't work then other drugs like Benzodiazepines can be used.

Long acting Benzodiazepines like Clonazepam can be used for RLS syndrome. The drug will help in sleep and will also help to improve the RLS symptoms. Apart from this supplements containing Vitamin E can also help. These will supplement the actions of the drugs. Please talk to your doctor and ask about these drugs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Seikhoo Bishnoi
