Hello,
Both of your complaints don't have any association between them. Let me first explain you about stye:
1) Probable causes of recurrent stye: Meibomian gland (sebaceous glands in eyelid) dysfunction, blepharitis (
fungal infection of eyelid mostly due to dandruff), elevated
serum cholesterol, occular rosacea.
2) Another important cause of recurrent stye, though not common is
immunoglobulin M (IgM) deficiency.
3) Treatment:
a) Maintaining lid hygiene
b) Warm compresses,
topical antibiotic cream
c) Massages of the lesion for 10 min 4 times/day
d) Systemic antibiotics are recommended in recurrent stye (as is your case)
e) If the stye is very close to eye lash, removal of eyelash helps in effective drainage.
So, kindly discuss the above points with your ophthalmologist such that he can prescribe systemic antibiotics that would suit you. Regarding sinus infection, I'll give you a detailed account of treatment regimen:
1)
Oral antibiotics like Amoxicillin with/without Clavulanate for 5-10 days
2) Intranasal steroid sprays, decongestant-oxymetazoline spray
3) Oral analgesics like Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen. Thus if your pack of steroids is for intranasal route, you can proceed to use it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi.m
