How Can Rapid Weight Gain Due To Thyroid Dysfunction Be Treated?

if you have a low normal thyroid level and are having raipd weight gain how do you counter these effects. I had my pituary gland removed in january, i have gained 30 lbs, my endrocinalogist has prescrbed has prescibed levothroxdine 1 doage of 88mg and since i saw him with the weight gain he has prescibed taking 1/2 more once a week, will that help?

The weight gain is because of the low level of T3/T4 hormone.

Yes, this must help you as the weight gain is directly proportional to the low level of thyroid hormone. When the hormones level in increased the metabolism will automatically increase and there will be more burning of calories.

You need to keep in touch with your endocrinologist in future too because the level needs to be maintained as per your lifestyle. When thyroid level increases your urge to do work will also raise so you may get under weight too.
