General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

For tuberculosis, there should be multiple medications which prevent recurrence and works synergistically. Treatment depends on which category you are Cat 1 6 months a medical prescription Cat 2 8 months and mainly four drugs haze for Cat 1 and streptomycin for Cat 2. These drugs in starting can cause gastrointestinal disturbance and each has a specific side effect like isoniazid is hepatotoxic pyrazinamide cause hyperuricemia with joint pain rifampicin cause orange coloration of urine and ethambutol cause an ophthalmic problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
