Hi.

Loette is a combined oral contraceptive ("birth control pill") which contains two hormones (Levonorgestrel & Ethinyloestradiol) which prevent you from becoming pregnant if taken regularly and correctly for 21 days.

It is not an effective emergency or post coital contraceptive pill.

Because your body will require at least 7 days to adjust before a pregnancy will be prevented and for that reason an additional birth control method (such as condoms or a diaphragm) is advised for at least first 7 days of starting Loette pills.

An emergency contraceptive pills like I-pill will be effective only if it is taken within 72 hours following an unprotected sex. Similarly, an extra dose of Loette will also not prevent the pregnancy.

Since your periods are already late, so get a home pregnancy test done and consult a gynecologist for further evaluation and treatment.

Hope this will help.
