How Can Pneumonia Be Treated?

My stepdaughter has pneumonia. She has been taking antibiotics since Wednesday night but doesn t feel much better. She s been in bed for 4 days. I told her to try to get up and walk some . . . .to the bathroom or around her room. Was that good advice?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If she is not improving with oral antibiotics, she has to be admitted and intravenous antibiotics has to be started. Take her to nearest hospital and get evaluated. She might require all basic investigations like blood routine and chest X-ray. Antibiotics are the corner stone in the treatment of pneumonia and she might require intravenous antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
