How Can Pityriasis Rosea Be Treated?

Hello,this time last year I broke out in a rash, the doctor diagnosed it as pityriasis rosea. He put me on medication and gave me a cream, it went away after a few weeks. I m after breaking out in the same rash last week. It was the exact same timing as last year. The itching is very intense! Have you got any recommendations? I m going to book in for a consultation this week. Thanks, Siobhan Boland

Hi,

As per your description it seems like you are having recurrence of pityriasis rosea. As a first line management you can take antihistamines like Pheneramine to control itching. Apply over the counter low potency steroid creams like Betamethasone and generally the lesion will settles in couple of weeks. If symptoms persist, you can consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.
